Hi! My name is Erika Tsouras.
I have been an artist my whole life & I love to create reflections of our world through my art. I paint with watercolor on raw wood panels & often incorporate the natural wood grain into the artwork. My art is an expression of emotion & a collaboration with nature.
I have lived in Flagstaff, AZ with my husband and two children since 2004 and have taught K-12 Art here for 10 years. Prior to that, I lived in Washington D.C., where I worked at an art center and non-profit art school. I hold a Masters Degree in Art Education from Northern Arizona University. In 2023 I started my small business, Meadowlark Art Studio, to bring my art and passion for teaching to the Flagstaff community. The name Meadowlark honors the street where I grew up and first made art with my Mom. Also, the Meadowlark is a unique and colorful bird that is not often seen, as they nest on the ground in meadows but they proudly sing a melodious song! As an introverted extrovert, I can relate! And they’re yellow, my favorite color.
My teaching philosophy is that everyone deserves to enjoy the process of making art. Many of us (kids and adults) get stuck in limiting beliefs and comparison when it comes to creating. I believe that art-making is a natural human impulse, and everyone should feel empowered to make their mark on the earth!
